Great Kids Expo ~ Chantilly VA 2008

I wanted to post these for Drea who did the photography for our banner...I know the "B" in Bundleboo is really dark...it shows up much better in person :) Thanks Drea! Nice job!
We are still trying to get the hang of shows, displaying our carriers and organizing the booth. Moby was right around the corner and stole our thunder...lol. The girl who reps for Moby in NOVA is super sweet... she seems to really enjoy her job and I love picking her market savvy brain :) We didn't do well at this show like we hoped... but I put out my home made "babylegs" $6.00 a pair... I called them "BooLees" legwarmers... and they were a huge hit :)
The traffic at the show was really really slow and we were right next to the front door... bad idea in the end I think we could have been better off somewhere in the middle. I think that Moby had a leg up simply because of price and my Moby friend kept putting her darn carriers on everyone... of course if you rip the darn baby Bjorn off of them and put a wrap in its place...they will be sold in an instant... why didn't I think of that?!?!?!?! UGH! I don't do well with direct sales... I try not to be in your face... ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT TIME????

Nice Banner!
Sorry the show didn't go as well as you hoped:(
I'm not a direct "up in your face" sales person either.
I would definately try to get a booth towards the middle next time.

I can come and demonstrate HAHA. I got pretty good wrapping them on people after shooting all those pics! I think if you showed how it worked that be good for them to see... and try. explain how w/ out the safety seat they wont be as secure while wrapping.. and that its nice to have for that reason, etc..

Hope that helps! the banner looks so cool!!

Yes Drea, and even perhaps one of your demonstration vids Drea, where you are showing how to do it...a TV and DVD can be set up for people to come (you know how people are kinda always curious as to what is being shown on a TV...) Especially if it had YOUTUBE on it! =) Everyone is jumping in on the Youtube craze...

I've done tradeshows before when I was in direct sales - offer a giveaway for each person who puts one on, or signs up for your mailing list or something. A raffle, door prizes, etc.

I hope this cheers you up, I've given you an award on my blog :)

Lisa's giveaway idea is a good one. If you just can't get over the hurdle of being more direct, consider hiring a more outgoing person to come to the shows with you. Your product seems like a really good one. You should be proud.

I would say letting parent's put their babies in your carriers would sell it. I myself want to try a moby or mei tai type carry, but haven't bought one yet for that simple reason-I haven't been able to try it, and spending 70 dollars on up for a good one doesn't seem worth it until I can see if I'll like it.

Also, I'd have some kind of business cards or something to pass out. Something too big will get trashed, but something small that fits in a pocket or wallet might get looked at again later :)

You should look into having a give a way too, like sign up everyone that tries one out. I like that idea.

It was nice meeting you today (Nicolle from Costco here!) Love your blog! I'm also completely salivating over your carriers.

Anyhoo, I had a similiar experience with my "MO" recently. You can read about it here if you like...
